Organized Chaotic Life in Print

This is our calendar. It makes for a huge conversation piece in the kitchen. It's placed above the trash barrel and viewable to all in the kitchen. It's placed right where the kids can see it while they eat their breakfast.

Each child was assigned a color when they were born. It's a way to keep us all organized and everyone knows where the others will be because of their color. I write appointments in their color and they know at what time and what place they need to be without looking for a name.

It's a really simple system and you can erase it and reuse it again the next month. I keep a regular calendar in the kitchen too. I just use pencil or pen on it to do appointments and dates ahead of time. The first of every month I pull the calendar down and color code it onto this white board. I found this one at Target. It cost about $20...very little money for the amount of use I have gotten out of it. We used a paint pen to make the black lines and days permanant.

This month is crazy busy but this calendar has looked worse than this many times. July is an insane month and December is pretty crazy too. The kids love this board and get really excited as to how I will decorate each month. Faith usually helps too....see her pumkin on Halloween? They love it as much as I do. Everything is nice, neat and contained. Just the way it needs to be.

It's our Organized Chaotic Life in Print! :)

This is brilliant! We have a mom's calendar with columns for each person but I love the idea of having two calendars and one being color coded!!! I think I will wait until I have a second child. Maybe I can pay you to make me one...not sure my lines would be straight :)
