On other news fronts Trevor has pneumonia. The poor kid is so sick right now. I had been saying for a week that if he catches Brycen's cold he's going to end up with pneumonia. Well he went to bed Sunday night with a stuffy nose. He looked like hell but he had no fever so I gave him a nebulizer for good measure on Monday morning. He sounded a little congested in the chest. By noon the school nurse was calling me at work. He had a fever and she checked his ear and it was really red. I picked him up and he looked even worse than he had that morning. Instant mommy guilt for sending him to school set in. We came home and he was coughing like crazy. I gave him another neb. He started crying that his chest really hurt. I called the nurse to see if I should up his nebs. She wanted him seen and I knew in my gut that he had pneumonia. I was just hoping to hold off on the Dr.'s until Saturday. We have no health insurance until then and it's so expensive to go to the Dr.'s. So they gave us an appointment for 4:45 last night.
We got there and we had the newest Dr. to the practice. She is really nice. She doesn't know us well enough yet. Unfortunately, she will soon enough. I think she thought I was crazy for bringing him in at first. She looked at me and said "he just got sick this morning and you brought him in?" I told her yes, Trevor gets pneumonia very easily due to his asthma and that my gut was telling me it's more than a cold. She again said "but he only got sick this morning." She then listened to him. The look on her face was rather humorous....she stopped and again said "and he only got sick this morning?" Again, we told her yes. She listened again to the other side, she looked up and said "this morning?" It was quite funny by now and I said "yes, this morning". She then proceeded to tell us there was crackling in both lungs and sure enough he has pneumonia. She couldn't believe he got so sick in such a short period of time. As she was getting ready to do his prescription I explained to her that we had no health insurance and I was a little worried about Brycen now as he's had a horrible cough for a week.
She agreed to listen to Brycen for free but if she heard any crackling I had to go resgister him to be charged. She asked if he had asthma too. I told her no. She then said he is wheezing horribly and that he is to lie low for the next week. No running. That meant no basketball for his first game that was going to take place at 6:00 last night. I felt bad. It was his birthday after all (see previous post).
So we left. We picked up Trev's prescription and he spent a good chunk of his night coughing. He was up before the crack of dawn because he couldn't sleep from all the coughing. He is up in our bed resting and a tad delirious from the fever but hopefully he will be on the mend soon.
Now I just have to worry about Faith. She woke up with the same miserable cold this morning. As did I. Looks like it's going to be long winter in the Liimatainen household. :( At least we will have health insurance in 5 days. Say a prayer that she stays healthy enough to get us through til then. $135 for 15 minutes of Dr. visits is more than we can bare four weeks before Christmas.
Cheers!
