So thankful for HIM!

Today he is 12. I have been so incredibly blessed with this child for the past 12 years. Incredibly blessed. The boys heart is made of gold. I am serious. He makes me so happy. His smile makes my heart skip a beat. I look at him and pray that *society* doesn't kill that sparkle in his eyes.

Today over 350 (yes three hundred and fifty) people sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him. Set up secretly by his Special Ed teacher from last year. She wasn't there. They let her go :( . She is tutoring him though and her husband "SNITCH" came to the school for Stew Day.

Stew Day is the BEST day of the year at this school. It is a day of fun, games, laughter, crafts, singing (snitch does this with the kids) and of course STEW. Ask any kid what their favorite day is and you will hear "STEW DAY!*.

Brycen was thrilled to have his birthday fall on Stew Day. I laughed just watching him talk, all excited, about it. All the kids did their performances early this morning. Snitch was a surprise. He came by Special Invitation, by one very special Parent outreach person (thanks Ms. P).

He got on stage. Brycen lit up like the tree in Rockafeller center. Brycen had said that Stew Day wouldn't be the same without Snitch, he had no idea he was going to show up. I did though!

Ray and I were standing at the back knowing what was coming. He told the school that a "very special person is having a very special day" he then asked if "Brycen could please stand up". He was embarassed but he stood and as soon as Snitch started singing Brycen beat red, but smiling ear to ear, slowly sat in his chair while the other students, parents, teachers and siblings joined in. It was an AWESOME moment for him. I teared up singing. Knowing that he meant so much to her and her not being able to see the joy on his face was a little hard for me. In the face of everything I am going through right now with the school it was so nice to know that someone is still on Brycen's side.

He got his birthday pie tonight with his presents (xbox 360 controller, video game and an ipod shuffle) made his day complete.

It seems like yesterday that I saw his precious little face for the first time. I knew he would be a blessing that day.....and i was so right!!

Happy Birthday Brycen. I love you so much!!!

Always and forever,
Mom
